All Of Their Questions Are Answered

The drumbeat continues.

The backbeat of debate over what to do about mass shootings and terrorism. The rimshot calls for stricter domestic gun control.

The man and woman who emptied their assault weapons inside the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino are dead. Law enforcement professionals will do their level best to connect the dots on why it happened. But their true motives for doing so—personal dispute or a terrorist agenda—are forever a mystery.

Except to their Creator.

Whatever they believed about life, justice, and God in their twenty-plus years on this earth, all of their questions are now answered.

I—we—need to remember this: the focus that news media puts on events like yesterday’s mass murder in San Bernardino blinds us to violence and injustice that happens every day, everywhere in the world.

All of it is evil. None of it is a new problem. All of it must be resisted.

We want someone or something to blame so we can get rid of them/it. What’s the answer?

A wise king once cried out to God…why are the nations in an uproar? Why are the people plotting a vain thing?

The answer he received: he who sits in the heavens laughs.

God laughs at evil?

He is love. He is good. He is above space and time. He sees the eternity we don’t yet see.

If we ask Him why He allows evil and injustice to flourish, I think His answer would be this: why do you?
